Building a conservatory means adding extra room to a home with an elegant appearance. Such an addition can also increase the value of the home. This new room will provide extra living space in an open and airy room. Many Conservatories are manufactured for the do-it-your-self homeowner. Meaning the DIY conservatory can be an affordable project and one that will give the homeowner a sense of satisfaction. If time constraints or do-it-your-self home improvements are not for you, a builder can easily construct the conservatory in the designated space. This will still add more value to the home than it costs to have the conservatory installed by a conservatory company.
Conservatories are manufactured in styles to match most homes, ranging from Edwardian, Victorian, Gable fronts and other shapes to enhance and fit any home. They can even be manufactured to fit on an existing base or brickwork. This is because once a conservatory is ordered and placed on a computer generated plan the conservatory can then be manufactured to the specific dimensions. By using this type of manufacturing process it makes installation easy with step-by-step instructions and the correct measurements for installing with existing brickwork.
Prior to purchasing a conservatory many people have questions about ordering, construction and other questions about whether they will need planning permission. Purchasing a conservatory can be made easier to the install by using a company that manufactures the parts after the precise measurements have been taken. The concern about planning permission in most cases is not a concern if the conservatory does not measure over 50 or 70 cubic meters. This does depend on where the home is located and it is advised if there are any questions about this to contact the local planning department. One of the reasons for this is the Exemption Criteria in the Building Regulations dated 1991, which states the conservatory roof must be either transparent or translucent. The walls must be half formed from windows and any radiators that are placed in the conservatory must have its own separate control for temperature and an on and off switch. The room also must not contain any type of drainage, such as a sink installed in the room.
DIY Conservatories are manufactured to fit the home and with many styles to choose from. They are manufactured in a way that installation will take only the basic home improvement tools to construct the room. Bespoke conservatories can be manufactured to fit areas such as a corner or to fit a bungalow. In some cases there will also be a hipped-back roof supplied and a box gutter. Another way to purchase a conservatory is even prior to owning a home a pre-order can be placed so that when the home is purchased the conservatory can be manufactured to fit the home.
Above any other reason to add a conservatory to a home, besides the feeling of accomplishment since it is a DIY project. This is a room that will be dry and comfortable in any type of weather and can be as formal or relaxed as you furnish the room for year round living. It is a perfect room for reading the paper on the weekend while relaxing, or tea with a guest.
